Ten years at sea on LNG carriers and FSRUs. Now ashore in HSEQ and sustainability, turning fuel data and regulation into fleet performance.
Sea-going engineering first, shore-based impact now.
I sailed as marine engineer from 2013 to 2023, first with Exmar Shipmanagement, then with Excelerate Technical Management. My ships were LNG carriers and FSRUs. I stood watches, ran maintenance, and kept steam plant, generators, boilers, and cargo systems in service.
I moved ashore in 2024. I served as Fleet Controller with Eurostar in Brussels, then joined AML/Stenaline in Tangier as Safety and Sustainability Superintendent. My remit covers safety management, emissions reporting, and efficiency plans across the fleet.
Two masters support the move: Marine Engineering (2022) and Maritime Transport Management at Antwerp Management School / University of Antwerp (2023). My research covered fuel cells, alternative-fuel scenarios, and the Belgian maritime innovation ecosystem.
Roles and scope taken from the CV. Full detail sits in the CV download.

Thesis on fuel-cell use for sustainable maritime transport.
Fuel cells for ships. Economic and regulatory paths to cut maritime emissions through alternative fuels. Mapping of the Belgian maritime innovation ecosystem and how to grow it.
Built at sea and ashore, tested in audits.
Working tools first. New tools labelled as developing, with samples to follow.
Fuel and emissions sheets, HSEQ reports, Teams and SharePoint.
Voyage data, CII tracking, and audit packs for verifiers.
Scripts for fuel and emissions math. Learning in public.
Cleaning noon reports and running consumption stats.
Version control for analysis code. Profile link below.
LLM tooling for report drafts and data checks, verified by hand.
Honest labelling: items marked Developing are skills in active study, not claimed mastery. Code samples land on GitHub as each build matures.

One reporting flow covering IMO DCS, EU MRV, EU ETS, and FuelEU Maritime, from noon-report intake to verifier pack.
Rating watch with hull and propeller cleaning, voyage tweaks, and retrofit options scoped with makers and yards.
Economic, environmental, and regulatory scenarios for cutting maritime emissions.
Survey of the national maritime innovation ecosystem, with proposals to grow it.
Early study of fuel-cell use for sustainable maritime transport.

Themes I read on, build on, and talk about.
Speed, trim, and hull condition tied to numbers.
Retrofits and ops measures that pay back.
LNG today, biofuels and methanol next.
Rules that move fleets.
Noon reports to live data pipelines.
Assistants for analysis, humans for decisions.
